Baby alpaca is a grade, not an age. It names the finest fiber an alpaca produces, about 22 microns on average, sorted by hand from each fleece. Unlike sheep’s wool, it contains no lanolin, resulting in a naturally hypoallergenic fiber that feels exceptionally smooth against the skin; never itchy, never coarse.
